Benard's Carpentry & Landscaping

About Benard's Carpentry & Landscaping

East of Port Gibson, twenty-three columns stand in an open field with nothing left to hold up, and the grass around them goes on growing all the same. Benard's Carpentry & Landscaping works that same Claiborne County ground — mowing, trimming, and cutting bed lines into the soft loess soil that shapes every hill and cut-through road around here. Autumn brings pecan leaves and sweetgum balls down by the bushel, and clearing them is half the season's labor. Shrubs are trimmed back off porches and window glass, mulch goes down where the rain has washed it thin, and the yard is left swept behind them. A place kept up reads as cared for from the road, and that reading begins at the property line.
