About BATES LAWN & GARDEN

April opens Petal in color — azaleas along the older streets, the last camellias letting go, and warm rain that falls hard for ten minutes and then quits. BATES LAWN & GARDEN meets that season in the beds as much as in the turf: mowing and edging, hedge and shrub trimming, bed cleanup, mulching, and the constant weeding spring demands. Grass here goes from dormant to relentless in roughly two weeks, and a yard tidied early stays ahead the whole summer. The pleasure is in the contrast — dark mulch, a sharp bed line, green blade standing straight up. Gardens repay attention faster in the Pine Belt than almost anywhere.
