About The Student Grounds Crew

School lets out in Madison and the mornings turn into working weather, hot by ten, so the trailers roll early down the streets off Bozeman Road with the dew still on everything. The Student Grounds Crew is exactly what the name says, and the work is the honest kind: mowing, edging, weed eating, blowing off drives and walks, bagging leaves, spreading mulch and carrying away whatever is left. A push mower and a straight line teach a person more than most jobs do. By noon the yards are cut, the sidewalks are swept clean, and the whole block sounds like summer. It is a good way to spend the long green months of a Mississippi year.
