Turf in Madison lives two lives. From November into March the Bermuda goes tan and dormant, holding still while the winter weeds test their luck; then April turns warm and wet and the whole yard rises green in about ten days. Simmons Turf Services works both halves of that year with fertilization, weed control, aeration and overseeding, and treatment when humidity brings brown patch or the armyworms move through in late summer. Bermuda, zoysia and St. Augustine each want something different, and a stand that gets what it wants thickens until the weeds have nowhere left to sit. That density is the whole point: color you can see from the curb, and a surface that feels right underfoot.
