Blackwell's Lawn Service

About Blackwell's Lawn Service

Down by the Long Beach harbor the wind arrives with salt on it, and the small yards near the water take that weather personally — grass thin in one corner, thriving in the next. Blackwell's Lawn Service reads a yard like that before the blade ever turns, cutting to the grass rather than to the clock. Regular mowing, edging worked tight along the walks, trimming around posts and mailbox brick, then everything cleared back off the concrete: that is the shape of a visit. Shrubs get cut back from the windows so the breeze and the light both get in. When the boats are rocking at their slips and the yards along the street are cut level, Long Beach looks like itself.
