Hardy

About Hardy

October in Greenville smells like pecan hulls and dry grass, and the light goes long and gold across every yard in town. Hardy works those weeks the way they ought to be worked — a closing round of mowing, edges recut, leaves and hulls raked and carried off before they mat down over the turf. Fall cleanup here is an act of faith in April, and the lawns that get it come back thicker. It is unhurried work, done all the way to the end, and it leaves a yard ready to rest.
