About Native lawncare

Out past the last of the streetlights, the road shoulders around Villa Ridge run to chicory and Queen Anne's lace by midsummer, and the yards there hold a line against all of it. Native lawncare keeps that line — mowing on the rhythm the grass sets, trimming back the edges before they creep, holding the shape of a lawn against a countryside that would happily take it back. There is a plainspoken pleasure in the moment a rough yard turns square again. Clippings come off the concrete, the fence corners get their pass, and the place looks looked-after. In fall the leaves come off, and in spring the whole thing wakes up hungry.
