About Homefield Services

By July the hills around Valle hum with cicadas and the weather comes in from the west with about an hour's warning. Homefield Services plans around it, cutting between the storms so a lawn never gets away from itself. This is old lead-country ground — thin over rock in places, thick and fast down in the bottoms — and each stretch takes its own pass. Edging along the walk and trimming out the fence posts is what turns a mowed yard into a finished one. Late in the year the work moves to leaves, and the pace slows to match the light.
