Matt's Green Scene

About Matt's Green Scene

Around noon the only cool square on a Union Chapel property is under whatever maple got planted sixty feet from the house, and that is where the water jug lives. Matt's Green Scene takes five there and then goes back at it — mowing the open ground, trimming the tight corners, edging the walk so the concrete has a border again. Grass in this country will take the summer if you let it, and the answer is simply mowing at the right height on the right week. Green is not an accident; it is a schedule. By the time the truck pulls out, the yard has that just-groomed look that lasts right up until the next good rain.
