Hook & Turf Co.

About Hook & Turf Co.

Cicadas take over the afternoons out here, and the mower runs under them like a lower note in the same chord. Hook & Turf Co. spends those hours on the turn — the clean pivot at the end of a pass, the trimmer picking up what the deck could not reach, the walk blown clear last. Turf responds to that repetition more than to anything dramatic: cut on time, cut at height, and it fills in on its own. Around Union Chapel the yards run big and open, which makes a straight line worth laying properly. Shutting the gate on a finished property in the long summer evening is most of the reward.
