Theodosia sits above the fingers of Bull Shoals Lake, where the Ozark bluffs drop straight to the water and the roads down to the docks switch back twice before they get there. Steve Hart Excavating clears those grades first, since a frozen switchback above open water is the one stretch of road nobody in town wants to test. Driveways carved into the hillside get plowed wide enough for a truck to turn around without backing toward the drop. Cedar glades hold shadow across the lower lanes long after the ridge tops have gone bare and dry, so those spots get checked twice. By the second pass, the whole run from ridge to dock is open, water visible again through the bare winter trees.
