Watson Road still carries the old Route 66 curbline past Crestwood, and the lawns fronting those streets are cut short and squared off. Stanford Lawn works to that look: mowing in even passes, edging every walk and drive to a hard line, trimming close around posts and beds, blowing the concrete bare. A midsummer storm can flatten a yard in twenty minutes; the next visit stands it back up. In autumn the leaves are gathered and gone, and in spring the first cut wakes the whole block. A straight seam between grass and pavement is a small thing, and it makes the entire yard read right.
