ASI - American Snow & Ice

About ASI - American Snow & Ice

Before the Gateway Arch catches its first line of light, the trucks are already threading downtown's grid, pushing back what the river's damp cold left overnight. St. Louis winters can turn overnight from a light dusting off the Mississippi into a stubborn glaze on Market and Chestnut, and getting ahead of it before the morning rush is the whole job. ASI - American Snow & Ice clears lots and drives across the city's core, laying down salt in the hours when the streetlights are still the only thing awake. There's a particular satisfaction in a clean, dry run of pavement stretching toward the riverfront while the rest of downtown is still buried — a straight black line cut through the white. By the time office doors open, the work is already behind it, quiet and finished.
