About Huffman Garden Center

Downtown Saint James keeps its brick storefronts close together along the old Route 66 alignment, and on a January evening the streetlamps throw long light across sidewalks that need clearing before the shops open. Huffman Garden Center works those blocks and the residential streets behind them, starting before daylight so the walk to a front door is already bare when the coffee pot goes on. The Ozark hills around town hold the cold differently than the flatter ground near the highway, and the crew reads that difference block by block rather than treating every lane the same. Plowed driveways here run past dormant hedgerows and stacked firewood, the kind of yard that will green up again once the frost lifts off the ridges. There's a particular satisfaction in a swept step and a clear drive on a morning when the whole town is still finding its footing on the ice.
