About Cornett Works

The first hard frost of the year finds Spring Hollow before it finds the ridges — cold air slides downhill overnight and by sunrise the low yards are white and stiff while the hilltops are still green. Cornett Works waits out that hour with steam coming off the trailer, then takes the season's late cuts as the ground thaws through mid-morning. Most of the year the work is steady mowing, string-trimming and edging, with cleanups in spring and again when the hardwoods drop. Brush and grown-up corners get knocked back so a yard keeps its shape instead of slowly losing ground. It is straightforward work in country that rewards keeping after it.
