By late August the ridge lawns above Spring Creek East go tawny and slow, and then one good thunderstorm rolls up from the southwest and everything is knee-high again inside a week. A & T Mowing works that swing — cutting high and easy through the dry stretch, then coming back hard when the rain wakes the yards up. Fencelines get trimmed where the mower cannot reach, borders get a clean edge, and the drive gets blown off last so the whole place reads finished. Toward the end of the year the same route turns into leaf work and the closing cleanup. Grass in the Ozarks keeps its own calendar; the work is showing up in step with it.
