Summer settles in hard across the Ozark valleys, and by midday the only cool left near Roaring River is the shade under the bluffs and the air off the spring branch. ProGro Lawns works the mornings then, cutting high enough that the turf can shade its own roots and getting through the route before the heat turns the job punishing. Trimming follows around posts, stone edges and foundation beds; the drive gets edged and swept before anything goes back on the trailer. Between Cassville and the river the yards are all slope and ledge rock, and pulling an even cut across them is a thing worth doing well. Fall and its leaves come after, and the route runs again.
