The first of March at Roaring River fills the hollow with anglers and with cold, loud water pouring out from under the bluff, and up on the ridges above it the grass is only starting to think about waking. All American Yards opens its year right there — clearing what winter piled up, taking the first cut off yards around the park and out toward Cassville. Ozark ground is rock and slope more often than not, so the mowing runs in passes that respect the grade, with trimming to finish everything the deck can't reach. Walk edges and gravel drives get cut back clean and the clippings blown off the stone. By June every yard on the route looks like somebody has been paying attention, because somebody has.
