East of town, eastern red cedars stand in dark ragged rows along old Cass County fences, and for twenty minutes after sundown the whole countryside turns that same deep blue. Blue Cedar Landscape often finishes a route in that light, out toward Lake Winnebago, the mower cooling while the last edge gets swept. The work itself is plain — mowing, string trimming, edging, clearing clippings from walks and drives. What lasts is the shape a yard holds afterward, the way the boundary between lawn and gravel goes sharp enough to see from the road. Cutting grass at the blue hour has a way of making that feel like plenty.
