Pleasant Hill is home to the National Weather Service office that watches the skies over the Kansas City region, so the weather is never far from anyone's mind here. Browns Outdoor Solutions works with whatever that sky delivers, keeping grass short and yards in trim between the spring squall lines and the August heat. When a front blows through and the grass shoots up overnight, a crisp mowing brings everything back into line. A yard left that neat looks like a fair-weather forecast come true. In this Cass County town, it is outdoor work with one eye always on the horizon.
