Green Cuts and More

About Green Cuts and More

Spring shows up at Fort Zumwalt Park before it shows up anywhere else in O'Fallon — redbuds firing pink along the treeline, the lake shaking off its winter dullness, the old fort's stone walls taking on a little warmth. Green Cuts and More opens its season right about then, when the fescue wakes up and the first mow of the year feels like an occasion. Mowing, edging, string trimming and yard cleanup fill the week, on a rhythm the grass itself sets. There is craft in a well-held edge along a sidewalk: one small hard line that makes an entire yard look deliberate. Neighbors notice, even when they cannot say exactly what changed.
