About Johnson’s Landscaping

Some yards are simply mowed; others are composed, and Johnson’s Landscaping works on the second kind in New Lisbon. On a late-September afternoon, when the light goes amber and the summer heat finally lets go of the bottomlands, the beds along a house front take on new shape. Shrubs are trimmed back to their natural lines, mulch goes down dark and even, and borders are drawn so that lawn and garden each know their place. The work is about proportion as much as plants: what a porch should frame, where the eye should rest from the road. When it is finished, an ordinary lot in a small farm township looks deliberate and welcoming.
