About Hawkins Home and Lawn

First light on a Monday in Mountain Grove: dew on everything, ramps down, and the day's first lawn still gray with it. Hawkins Home and Lawn starts early because grass cuts cleaner before the heat arrives, and because a yard finished by mid-morning hands the rest of the day back to whoever lives there. The routine holds — mowing, trimming along walls and walkways, edging where the turf tries to creep, then blowing every hard surface clean. Out on the ridges above town the lawns run straight into pasture and the mowing gets more interesting. Either way the truck leaves behind honest stripes and a driveway you could walk barefoot across.
