Mean Green Grass Service

About Mean Green Grass Service

On a June evening south of Mount Vernon the fireflies come up out of the grass before the mower has cooled, and the fields toward Aurora go silver-blue. Mean Green Grass Service spends those long days cutting, trimming and edging across Lawrence County, chasing the light until the last yard is done. Fence corners, mailbox posts, the awkward strip between the drive and the ditch — that is where a mowing job is won or lost. Then the walks get blown, the hose gets coiled, and there is one good look back down the stripes. Green is right there in the name, and holding a lawn to it from April into October is the whole of the job.
