About Martin Outdoor Services

March in Mineral Point is all thaw and gravel: old lead-country hills going soft, water finding the ditches, the first green pushing up through last year's flattened brown. Martin Outdoor Services opens the season here with cleanups and the first cut — mowing, trimming, edging, and hauling the winter's litter of sticks and leaves off the lawn. There is a particular pleasure in that opening pass of the year, when a yard goes from tired to awake in about forty minutes. Through the warm months the work holds steady across the Washington County hills, edges kept tight along walks and drives. Around here a well-kept yard reads as a house that is being looked after.
