Matthew's Mowers

About Matthew's Mowers

A small Missouri town has a Saturday sound in June: one mower, then another two streets over, then the whole block quietly agreeing. Matthew's Mowers is somewhere in that chorus most weeks, working Lexington's front yards and back lots — grass cut at a height that can take the heat, trimmer run along the fence and the mailbox post, clippings blown off the walk before the truck moves on. The reward comes around ten in the morning, when the smell lifts off a finished yard and the stripes hold all the way to the curb. Autumn shifts the job toward leaves, and spring starts it over with the first cut of the year. It is honest, repeating work in a town small enough that the same yards come around again and again.
