Exclusive Lawns

About Exclusive Lawns

Late in August the sun slides down over Raintree Lake on the south end of Lee's Summit, and for a few minutes the lawns that roll toward the water glow the color of honey. Exclusive Lawns works with that kind of light in mind, because a fresh mow reveals every line in slanting sun and a crisp driveway edge throws a shadow as thin as a pencil stroke. Each visit evens out the grass across each dip and rise of the lot, tidies the margins around trees and planting beds, and leaves the paths clear for an evening walk. By then summer is tiring, the first goldenrod opening along the roadsides and the nights just beginning to cool. It is a lovely hour to look out over a mown yard and feel the whole day ease down with it.
