About Meltons landscaping and design

Late winter in Lebanon is a season for planning: yards lie tawny under a pale February sky, the springs and creeks run cold and clear, and every bare corner is an open question. Meltons landscaping and design answers with landscapes drawn for this particular ground — beds that follow the slope, curves that echo the folded ridgelines of the Ozarks, plantings placed where they will thrive through a humid Missouri summer. Design here starts by reading the land: where water runs after a hard rain, where the afternoon sun lands, which view from the kitchen window deserves a frame. Then the plan takes shape bed by bed, until a yard that once just sat there begins to feel like part of the hills around it. Come spring, the first shoots rising in the new beds show what all those winter sketches were for.
