Peruque Creek threads its wooded draw through Lake St. Louis, and the yards along it stay green late into the evening, shaded by the same trees that keep the water cool. Custom-Cuts takes that long summer light seriously, mowing once the heat lets go, trimming the fencelines and mailbox posts, edging the walks until the concrete shows its true line. Every property along the creek is a little different: a slope here, a shade patch there, a strip of turf that wants a higher deck. The cut gets fitted to the lawn rather than the other way around. When the fireflies come up out of the low ground, the grass is standing even and the driveway is swept bare.
