Turf Geeks

About Turf Geeks

Kelso sits low and level in Scott County, where the fields run out to the horizon and a levee is the tallest thing in sight. On ground that open, a mowed lawn gets read from a quarter mile away, which is why Turf Geeks fusses over the line where turf meets driveway until it goes straight and clean. Summer arrives heavy off the Mississippi bottoms here, so the mowers start early and the last blow-off happens while the church steeple still holds the light. Trimming around mailbox posts, fence corners and foundation plantings takes the patience of somebody who actually likes the work. By the time the truck pulls away, the clippings are off the walk and the yard looks like it was drawn with a straightedge.
