Our Backyard Lawn and Tree

About Our Backyard Lawn and Tree

A hard ice storm leaves the old shade trees over Independence's residential streets bowed low and glittering by midmorning, branches heavy enough to drip meltwater onto a driveway that's already been cleared once. Our Backyard Lawn and Tree works those older neighborhoods block by block, the streets laid out under a canopy that's been there since long before the subdivisions further out, clearing driveways and walks while keeping half an eye on what the trees overhead are holding onto. A yard shaded like this makes for a different winter job entirely — the snow melts slower, refreezes faster, and a driveway can need a second pass by afternoon that a sunnier street wouldn't. By the time the ice finally lets go of the branches, the ground below has stayed clear the whole while.
