Hazel Hill took its name from the wild hazel thickets that once grew up around an old schoolhouse, and the hedgerows still mark the same lines across this stretch of Johnson County. J & C Excavating runs its equipment down those same lanes each winter, cutting a path through drifted snow between the fence rows toward Warrensburg and Holden.
