Kiefer's Lawn

About Kiefer's Lawn

Old Town Fenton keeps its narrow lots and short blocks near where Gravois Road drops toward the water, and in April the whole place goes green almost at once. Kiefer's Lawn is on those streets from the first cut of spring, when the grass comes in thick and wet and wants a slower pass. Mowing, trimming into the tight corners between fence and garage, edging the sidewalk seam, then clippings blown off the pavement instead of left to stain it. Small yards ask for more turning and more attention around what is planted, which is its own kind of satisfaction. By the time the truck leaves, the lot looks bigger than it did an hour before.
