About Diesel's Landscaping

August in Creve Coeur belongs to the cicadas, and by five o'clock the heat has come off the asphalt of Craig Road just enough to make good working weather. Diesel's Landscaping runs the evening route then, cutting zoysia that has gone half gold at the tips and fescue that wants the blade set high while the sun is still mean. Mowing, trimming, edging, blowing every last clipping back off the concrete — the same order every visit, because a route that runs on rhythm runs clean. The long light lays across a finished lawn and shows every pass in it, which is exactly the point. Then the truck rolls to the next street with the noise of the trees rising behind it.
