About Smith Lawn & Tree Service

By mid-October the shade streets around the courthouse square in Chillicothe turn gold overhead and then, all at once, underfoot. Smith Lawn & Tree Service works the back half of the year here — the last mows of a grass season that runs later than folks expect, leaf cleanups hauled off one yard at a time, lawns put to bed ahead of the first hard freeze that comes down off the plains. There is a particular pleasure in that final pass: the mower shut off, the turf short and even, the beds cleared to bare dirt, a lawn ready for whatever winter decides to do with it. Wind off the open ground north of town will fill the same yard again by morning, which is simply how autumn behaves in this part of Missouri. So they come back and clear it again.
