Babbs Lawn Care

About Babbs Lawn Care

Canalou sits on ground the Bootheel drained and made flat, where a lawn runs level to the field line and morning comes across the beans from a mile off. Babbs Lawn Care starts in that early hour, while dew still weighs down the blades and the ditch banks are cool enough to walk. The work is plain and it is done all the way through: mowing, trimming, edging along drives and walks, blowing the clippings back off the concrete, and hauling leaves away in fall when the pecans finally let go. Set against all that open acreage, a cut yard reads like an answer to it — stripes laid true, a squared edge at the drive, the mailbox post cleared by hand. Out here every place is seen from the road, and Babbs cuts them so the road is glad to look.
