Perfection Lawn & Snow

About Perfection Lawn & Snow

By midwinter the pastures around Brooking have faded to the color of old rope, the only green left in the cedar breaks along the fence rows. Perfection Lawn & Snow works those same yards it tends the rest of the year, mower parked now and a plow blade mounted instead, clearing driveways while frost still silvers the grass in the shadow of the house. Light comes up late over the ridge east of town in January, so the earliest stops are done half by headlight, the blade cutting down to the gravel underneath before the household's coffee is even poured. A cleared drive here lets a school bus turn around without sliding, a mail carrier finish the loop, a truck get out to check on stock before the roads warm and soften. The gravel shows straight and even under a sky still deciding whether it's done snowing, the edges kept as even as the flower beds get come June.
