The ridges around Arnold are oak and hickory country, and in late October the reds hang on long after the maples have quit. Red Oak Landscaping works among them, mowing and edging through the season, then turning to bed work, mulch and planting that let a yard sit right beneath mature trees. Cutting a lawn under heavy canopy is its own problem, all roots and shade and leaves that never quite stop coming. The reward is a yard where the grass and the trees look like they were meant for each other. When the last of the canopy comes down, the cleanup follows it to the curb.
