SnowCo

About SnowCo

Twenty below in Wolf Lake Township is a bright, still, ringing kind of cold, sun dogs standing on either side of a low sun, snow squeaking underfoot, gravel roads packed hard and white. SnowCo works the winter here and only the winter, plowing driveways, opening the long lake-road approaches, clearing lots, and shoveling walks down to the step. Out in the township a drive can run a few hundred feet back through tamarack and pine, and on the open stretches the wind fills it in again from the fields. The job is to get there early, cut it wide, and stack the banks where they will not crowd the next storm. Around Wolf Lake and the Becker County lake country, that is the whole of the business.
