Andy's Lawn & Snow

About Andy's Lawn & Snow

Winsted is built around its lake, and in October the water goes slate-colored while the maples on the shore streets burn out one block at a time. Andy's Lawn & Snow finishes the mowing season into that, with final cuts, edging, and the leaf cleanups that keep a yard from going into winter smothered. Then the lake fogs, freezes, and the work becomes plowing: driveways and aprons opened early, walks shoveled, salt where the shade holds ice all day long. There is something satisfying about a cleared drive on a still morning with the lake flat and white behind it. Come April the mowers come back out, Winsted greens up again, and the turn starts over.
