Windemere township is pine and popple country on the Snake River side of Pine County, where sand roads run back into the Chengwatana timber and the lakes lie dark and quiet between. August finds the grass slowed down and the yards at their fullest, and SR Outdoors works them over with mowing, trimming and edging until each clearing sits square against the woods. Lots up here are half lawn and half forest, so much of the craft is in the border, that clean line where mown ground gives way to trees and brush. Spring and fall cleanups take out what the pines let go, needles and cones and a winter's worth of broken branches. It is steady outdoor upkeep in a township where the outdoors is most of the address.
