About Local Hometown Heroes

White Bear Lake takes its name from an old legend of a great white bear, a tale Mark Twain retold in Life on the Mississippi, and the town still carries the story lightly, like a neighbor's favorite yarn. Local Hometown Heroes mows and tends the backyards and boulevards of that storied place. The work stays close to home: mowing, trimming and tidying until a yard is ready for a cookout on a late-August evening. When the sun slips behind the trees and the lake goes copper, the grass should be the last thing on anyone's mind. Keeping a lawn neat is an everyday sort of heroism, and here it gets the attention it deserves.
