Lake Minnetonka lives two lives — open water half the year, white plain the other half — and the town of Wayzata lives both of them with it. Freshwater Landscaping works the same double shift: mowing, trimming, and tending lawns through the green months, then plowing driveways and clearing walks when the lake locks up and the snow starts keeping its own schedule. In this part of Minnesota a storm can arrive overnight and be knee-deep by breakfast; the measure of the work is a driveway open before the first commute. In June, the measure is a lawn that rolls green down toward the water. Two seasons, one standard.
