About St. Louis County Environmental Services

Winter runs long in Virginia — the first plowable snow can land before Halloween and the last drifts have been known to linger toward April — and St. Louis County Environmental Services works the white end of that calendar. Snow removal is the whole of the job and the whole of the point: openings cut through whatever the sky puts down, so a morning on the Range can begin on time. This is the heart of St. Louis County's iron country, where a single overnight system can rearrange every driveway in town. The work happens mostly in the dark hours, headlights on the banks, steel on packed snow. What's left behind by daybreak is the simplest thing there is: a way through.
