A north wind off Lake Superior does not so much drop snow on Two Harbors as drive it sideways up the hill from Agate Bay. J P Sitework LLC works those hours, plowing driveways and lots while the harbor lights are still the brightest thing in town, so the early shift finds a clear way out. Snow here comes heavy and wet one week and dry as sugar the next, and each kind wants a different angle on the blade. Walks and steps get shoveled down to the surface, because a shortcut there is exactly what a boot finds at six in the morning. There is real satisfaction in a driveway banked square and open before anyone in the house has poured coffee.
