Stillwater Turf and Power

About Stillwater Turf and Power

The steep streets that climb Stillwater's bluffs are lovely in a snowstorm and merciless the morning after, and that is where Stillwater Turf and Power earns its name. When a January system stalls over the valley, the plows are out in the blue dark, working the terraced hills so the town can get down to work before the sun clears Wisconsin. Come thaw, the same crew trades steel for turf, mowing and shaping lawns on those tilted lots where a clean line has to follow the grade. Machines and grass, cold months and warm ones — the work changes, the standard doesn't. A driveway open by daybreak; a yard squared away by supper.
