Sunrise Lawn & Snow

About Sunrise Lawn & Snow

First light in St. Louis Park comes up behind the old Peavey-Haglin elevator off Highway 7, the concrete tower catching dawn before the rest of the town does. Sunrise Lawn & Snow keeps that hour. In winter the trucks are out before the sky pinks, clearing driveways and sidewalks so the day starts on dry pavement; in summer the crew catches the cool of morning, mowing while dew still silvers the grass. There is a particular pleasure in work finished early — the lawn striped by eight, the snowbank rolled back before breakfast. In a town where the light and the weather both change fast, starting at dawn is less a schedule than a philosophy.
