About Steve's Excavating Inc

Day two of a Stearns County storm is the honest test: the sky has cleared, the sun is out, and the wind is quietly rebuilding every drift that got cut yesterday. Steve's Excavating Inc runs snow removal straight through it, plowing driveways and lots, breaking up hardpack, and stacking banks where the next storm will still fit. Oak windbreaks along the old field lines catch what they can; the rest goes wherever the wind decides. Afternoon light comes in low and hard off the white, and the cleared blacktop is the darkest thing for a mile. Then the machine shuts down, and the yard is passable again.
