In July the light lasts past nine, and the old rail grade of the Glacial Lakes State Trail runs out of Spicer into a long gold that seems in no hurry. Eagle Lawn & Labor works the tail of that light — mowing, trimming, the tidy right-angle finish where turf meets driveway. Yards here sit on ground the glaciers left rumpled, so a lawn is rarely flat, and the good ones are cut by someone who reads the slope before the first pass. Come autumn there are leaves off the hardwoods to gather and haul, and a yard put to bed clean. It is lawn care, plainly done, for Spicer and the roads running toward New London and Willmar.
