One More Yard

About One More Yard

There is an hour in a Shoreview July when the light goes long and gold over Turtle Lake and the whole neighborhood smells like cut grass. One More Yard is named for that hour — the one more before dusk, the mower still running while swallows work the air above the water. Mowing, trimming, edging, and the cleanup that makes the difference between a yard that got cut and a yard that got cared for. Lawns here grow thick under old oaks and ask for a steady hand around beds, hydrants and the odd glacial boulder nobody ever moved. By the time the machine is loaded, the lines run straight and the walk is blown clean.
